Bridge the Gap
Dick and Maggie Trickey have been singing and playing together for many years, they have toured the UK, USA, Russia and Ireland singing
Scottish, English, Irish and contemporary songs.
Dick was brought up in Cornwall and plays guitar, cittern, concertina and whistle. His Great Grand Uncle Sam Gregory gave eight songs to
Hammond & Gardiner on their collecting expeditions in the West Country at the beginning of the twentieth century.
Maggie is Aberdonian and plays a mean bodhran. She was born and brought up in Causewayend, Aberdeen, her mother and father both were singers.
Neighbour to Maggie was Jeannie Robertson who was a very early influence and taught Maggie some ballads. Maggie in her teens then went on to
organise concerts at Hayton Community Centre including Jeannie along with many others long before she became famous.
Some of the songs Dick & Maggie sing are very lively and will have you bouncing up and down and some of the ballads can be quietly rich and moody.
They are tutors with Scottish Culture and Traditions in Aberdeen and this year (2009) were invited to tutor for the Living Tradition Magazine
Summer Schools in Dundee.
Dick and Maggie play in the famous, well travelled ceilidh band 'Ceilidh On' along with Kathleen Robertson and David Anderson.
